FORT WAYNE, IN— This weekend, June 17 – 20, the USA Pickleball Great Lakes Regional Championships will be held at the Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne.
The event is expected to bring in nearly 700 players and attendees to the Fort Wayne area over the 4 day period.
“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the sports tourism industry, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to position Fort Wayne as a destination for the Pickleball market and future tournaments,” said Stephanie Coleman, Visit Fort Wayne Sports Sales Manager.
These hosting opportunities are a testament to the investment in Fort Wayne sports venues and are a key ingredient to creating a vibrant community that promotes resident enrichment, creates bonds with our neighboring cities, and generates revenue that goes directly into the locally owned businesses in our city.
“The Great Lakes Region of USA Pickleball including Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan selected Fort Wayne as the location for this important tournament because it has everything we were looking for including a vibrant pickleball community,” said Mike Fritsch, Great Lakes Regional Director. “We wanted a city where people can have fun when they aren’t playing and Fort Wayne certainly delivers.”
