FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Construction is now underway for the 800-room Omni Hotel attached to the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.
The hotel is expected to be finished within the next four years and will total 29 stories and 800+ rooms. The new Omni Hotel will also include a spa, meeting spaces, and more. Broward County recently issued over $369 million in bonds to pay for the project and also contributed another $280 million in general funding.
An article from a local newspaper in Broward County states that the Associated Press recently reported that the general fund contribution towards the new hotel may have included $140 million in Covid relief funds from the federal government.
