LAS VEGAS, Nev.– Fresh off a record-breaking year in 2022, professional pickleball is taking the next step. In fact, pickleball has officially “gone Hollywood” with one of sport’s most famous investors worldwide.
The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) is officially launching VIBE Pickleball with Mark Cuban by its side.
VIBE will begin competitions in 2023 featuring pickleball’s best players alongside the PPA Tour’s top five male and female athletes to create the initial league. Six teams will be selected next month in Las Vegas during a live draft. Cuban and the other five owners—who have yet to be announced—will be present to select their teams.
In a twist, owners will also have the ability to add, drop, and trade players until the end of the season after receiving league consent.
“Just like millions of other Americans, I’ve been following pickleball over the past few years, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to invest in the fastest growing game in the country,” said Cuban. “VIBE presents an unparalleled opportunity to launch a new pro league that will feature the best-of-the-best in a highly competitive setting. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
According to VIBE, the league will televise games during the inaugural season as part of the PPA Tour’s existing relationships with ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and the Tennis Channel.
