The culmination of the 2021 S.P.O.R.T.S. Conference is upon us! We hope you all had the best time possible in Colorado Springs… we know we did! For those of you unable to attend, I thought I would bring you a full conference recap!
The Thursday before the conference, our SportsEvents team set sail—or in this case, got fuel for the car—and started the long two day drive to the home state of the Rocky Mountains. However, while some drove, others opted for a nice 9 A.M. flight from Pensacola to Dallas, and then from Dallas to Colorado Springs.
Saturday was a full day of getting to the hotel and getting everything organized and ready to go for the week! We ended Saturday with a nice team dinner at one of the many restaurants Colorado had to offer; it was delicious!
Sunday was fast paced yet full of fun as we put the finishing touches on everything to make it perfect for all of our attendees. If you want a recap of Sunday, just imagine a group full of fun and focus running from here to there!
Monday is when all of the fun began! We were able to host our annual Golf Scramble at Patty Jewett Golf Course sponsored by Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance, host another group at the Garden of the Gods for a thrilling Jeep tour, and ended the night with our Opening Reception at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum sponsored by Visit Colorado Springs where attendees got to mix, mingle, wine, and dine underneath history. Featuring a large state-of-the-art monitor lit up with historic Olympians, “ooo’s and ahh’s” were heard around the room.
The next day began with Story Coffee Company in Colorado Springs serving up lattes and mochas galore thanks to Foley Sports Tourism, and a fantastic welcoming breakfast sponsored by Greater Savannah. Also present Monday morning was headshot photography sponsored by the wonderful Lake Erie Shores & Islands!
After the first round of one-on-one appointments sponsored by Team Travel Source, attendees were able to enjoy a delicious lunch sponsored by Traveling Teams. In addition to a delicious lunch, Paralympian John Register spoke on his mental toughness, giving a testimony leaving everyone inspired to tackle the “new normal,” thanks to Greenville, North Carolina!
After the second round of appointments, the beer and wine networking reception sponsored by Visit Tucson was a hit before everyone took a prospect to dinner! To end off the night, Team Louisiana and Phantom Brewing Company came together to showcase all the finest food and drinks Louisiana has to offer at the first “Team Louisiana After Hours Party!” Hot beignets, shrimp po’ boys, and homemade hurricanes contributed to both the experience and atmosphere!
The next morning featured a fantastic mimosa bar sponsored by Tour Stafford Virginia, a breakfast buffet thanks to Visit Panama City Beach, and more coffee and headshots!
Wednesday’s speaker was sponsored by Visit Canton, and our Grand Annual Luncheon was sponsored by the great Sports Alabama.
Wednesday night took us to The Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Breathtaking views with endless food and drinks combined with firepits, smores, and music by Jim Salestrom, guitarist for Dolly Parton, set the tone for the evening.
However, the most talked about point of the night was Forrest Gump entering the building! Yes, that Forrest! While looking for Lieutenant Dan, Forrest let us in on a little secret.
We will see you at the 2022 S.P.O.R.T.S. Conference in Savannah, Georgia! We can’t wait to see everyone in September next year, and we are already planning for your arrival!
