ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Elizabeth Township in Pennsylvania is moving to convert aging ball fields into a multi-sports complex.
According to local TV station WPXI, the local baseball field is undergoing demolition and will be turned into a new complex over five phases, with ground recently broken on the first phase. According to the article, Elizabeth Township Commissioner Chris Thoma says the new complex will have a turf infield, grass outfield, and all-new fencing. In all, the field renovations will cost $1.4 million and are expected to be ready in June.
Over the next few years, township commissioners are planning on adding three soccer fields; walking trails; and basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts to the complex, the article states.
According to Thoma, the goal is to create a “multimillion-dollar sports hub” that can host a wide variety of sports events and tournaments.
