CLERMONT, Fla.  ─ The Florida Regional District of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU Florida) has announced plans to organize and operate events at the planned 100,000-square-foot Olympus Event Center in Clermont, Fla.

As reported by Spectrum News 13, the events center is expected to include facilities for sports such as basketball, volleyball, martial arts, cheerleading, pickleball, climbing, futsal, baseball, and softball. It will also have offices, retail stores, and restaurants.

Olympus Sports Campus is designed to include a 5,800-seat multi-purpose arena, a soccer center with a 3,500-seat stadium and multiple pitches, a 4.5-mile trail system, a beach volleyball pavilion, twin ice pads for hockey and figure skating, and a red-clay tennis center officials claim will be the largest in the country.

The facility will be in Olympus Orlando, a mixed-use development that combines residential, sports, hospitality, and entertainment.

According to the article, the events center will host amateur, collegiate, and elite-level sports events throughout the year.

The economic impact of the Event Center is expected to add substantially to the significant impact of approximately $1.5 billion already projected for the overall Olympus development at buildout. Facilities of similar scale and purpose can generate in excess of $1 billion in net new spending, hundreds of thousands of visitors, tens of thousands of hotel room nights, hundreds of jobs, and more.

“The Event Center will shine a spotlight on amateur sports at Olympus and serve as the premiere destination for sports training and competition,” said Carroll. “Our vision is to lead sports innovation by placing the athlete at the center of the experience.”
