Construction has begun on the 420,000-square-foot AdventHealth Sports Park in Bluhawk. The first phase of the complex is set to open in fall and winter 2024.

OVERLAND PARK, Ks.  – Construction is underway on a new 420,000-square-foot sports complex in Overland Park, Ks.

The first phase of the AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk is scheduled to be completed in either the fall or winter of 2024, as reported by The Kansas City Star.

The 250,000-square-foot first portion of the $125 million complex will include a 4,000-seat multipurpose arena, four basketball courts, eight volleyball courts, a 1,500-seat ice rink, a 32,000-square-foot indoor turf football field, a sports performance center, team and meeting rooms, family entertainment center, and cafe and kitchen.

The second portion, set to be 170,000 square feet, will include basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts, as well as another ice rink. An opening date has not been confirmed for the second phase yet.

The complex will be located at the 277-acre Bluhawk District, which houses tenants such as Whataburger, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Cosentino’s Market, and Of Course Kitchen & Co.

Once completed, the complex will focus on amateur and youth sports and tournaments, as well as other family and community-oriented entertainment and events. It will be operated and managed by Sports Facilities Companies.
