EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A local leader in the Evansville, Ind. sports industry is taking on a newer, larger role within the region.
Brandon McClish has joined the Evansville Regional Sports Commission as the organization’s new executive director. McClish spent the previous five years as general manager at Learfield Sports at the University of Evansville and worked with the Evansville Otters, a local professional baseball team.
As reported by the local newspaper The Evansville Courier & Press, McClish says he is happy to be able to continue his journey in the city.
“I don’t want to move, and to be able to grow Evansville through sports is something I’m not going to take lightly,” he told the newspaper.
McClish succeeds Eric Marvin, who accepted a similar position with a sports commission in northern Michigan.
According to the article, McClish says his local connection will help him immensely in the position.
“For an outsider, it could take a couple of years to get to know who all of [the local leaders] are. Me being able to do this for the last few years will help ease this transition,” he remarked.
The sports commission is part of the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership (E-REP). E-REP CEO Tara Barney told the Courier & Press that McClish’s expertise in the sports industry made him a “standout” for the position.
