NASHVILLE, Tenn.—D1 Training, a sports training facility, appointed Dom Bonvissuto as director of media and content.
In his new role, Bonvissuto is responsible for overseeing and implementing D1’s national content strategy and helping establish the brand’s voice and tone. He will also lead a national email newsletter for D1 and work with the company’s 115-plus franchise locations and more than 30,000 member athletes.
“We are thrilled to add someone of Dom’s caliber and character to our team,” D1 Training founder and CEO Will Bartholomew says. “His experience in sports media and marketing will be a valuable asset as D1 continues to grow nationally. Between Dom’s past and D1’s future, the possibilities are limitless.”
Bonvissuto has more than 20 years of experience in sports media and marketing since he started his journalism career in 2001 at The City Paper (Nashville) where he profiled D1 founder Will Bartholomew in 2003. He’s also written and edited content at Sports Illustrated, National Football League, and NBC Sports among other outlets. He’s also spent more than 13 years editing NFL writer Peter King’s Monday Morning QB, and later, Football Morning in America.
Bonvissuto has also led onsite coverage at many Super Bowls and NFL drafts. His experience in sports journalism is complemented by his work in sports lifestyle and marketing. In 2017, he joined sports apparel company BreakingT, and in 2018, was named director of marketing. He went on to lead 30x revenue growth in four year and helped establish the brand’s national identity.
“I sought out D1 Training because of past connections and immediately saw huge possibilities,” Bonvissuto says. “D1 sits at the intersection of sports, fitness and lifestyle, and I can’t wait to help bridge those three areas and maximize opportunities through smart, meaningful content.”
