Busy weekend of sports events in Erie, Pa.

ERIE, Pa. – It is a busy weekend of sports in Erie, Pa., with several events scheduled.

Penn State Behrend is hosting the 2024 United East Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Saturday starting at 12:45 p.m. and Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

The event will feature an array of NCAA Division III athletes showcasing their talents and competing for top honors in various track and field disciplines. Athletes from more than 10 different regional colleges will compete.

“We are honored to welcome athletes from near and far to Penn State Behrend for a weekend full of excitement and competition,” said Brian Streeter, senior director of athletics at Penn State Behrend. “The United East Outdoor Track and Field Championships embody the spirit of sportsmanship and celebrate the dedication and passion of all athletes participating.”

In addition, the PA BASS Nation’s Kayak Series will be taking place at Presque Isle Bay on Saturday for a day-long tournament. Anglers will compete to increase their Angler of the Year ranking and attempt to qualify for the PA State Championship.

The 84th PA State United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Open Championships also continues this weekend with week five of the 10-week tournament. Bowlers will compete all day Saturday and Sunday. Eastland Bowl will host the five-person team event and Eastway Lanes will host the minor doubles and singles event.
