WICHITA, KS. – Visit Wichita and Wichita State University are teaming up to host a Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) event in the city for the first time in history.
Tickets are on sale now for the event, which will take place April 5-7, 2024, at Charles Koch Arena on the campus of Wichita State University.
MLTT features world-class players representing 40 total countries. They compete in a team game format that concludes with the Golden Game, a race to 21 points where every member of each five-person team rotates every four points. Wichita is hosting the competition for the league’s West Division.
“Major League Table Tennis represents the best table tennis players in the world, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome them and their fans to our vibrant city,” says Josh Howell, vice president of sports development at Visit Wichita. “Wichita is an amazing sports city where sports thrive, and Midwest hospitality abounds. Additionally, we are confident Wichita State and Charles Koch Arena will prove to be an ideal venue, making it a memorable experience for all.”
General admission tickets for the event start at $20 and $40 for VIPs. Tickets also grant fans access to the fan zone where they can play on ping pong tables, meet the players, and potentially even get a chance to play a few points against them.
“The first half of our season has been a tremendous success, exceeding our expectations in player performance and fan engagement,” MLTT commissioner Flint Lane says. “As we enter the second half of the season, we’re excited to build on this momentum and continue to deliver high-quality, competitive table tennis to our growing fan base. We can’t wait to meet the players, fans, and families in Wichita to close out our regular season.”
Players will be competing in Wichita in their final clash before the championship weekend, April 27-28, at Gentile Arena in Chicago, where the top four teams will be competing for the MLTT Cup and $100,000 in prize money.
