NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country music superstar Morgan Wallen has donated $500,000 to revitalizing a Nashville youth sports complex.

As reported by Fox Business, the donation was made in partnership with the Major League Baseball & MLB Players Association Youth Development Foundation, which matched Wallen’s donation, for a total of $1 million.

The funds will support upgrades at Parkwood Community Club, a historic Black baseball and softball complex in the city’s north end.

In a statement, Wallen told Fox News Digital that after hearing about the project, he knew he wanted to help immediately.

According to the article, before Wallen embarked on his successful music career, baseball was his passion. He was a pitcher at Gibbs High School, which he attended in Tennessee.

Wallen added in his statement that he “can’t wait to come back here and see the park once it has been renovated.”

Opened in 1966, Parkwood Community Club has long served the local neighborhood. The field improvements are part of a larger project that will see the creation of the 59-acre Metro Park and the development of 26 single-family homes to be built by Habitat for Greater Nashville.
