FRISCO, Texas—A new docuseries launched by Visit Frisco is spotlighting the city’s evolution from a quiet North Texas town into Sports City USA, a hub for professional teams, elite athletes, and global sports organizations.

The seven-part series, titled “Where Greatness Grows: The Story of Sports City USA,” premiered Sept. 25 on VisitFrisco.com and YouTube. Told through short, interview-style episodes under four minutes each, the series explores the people, partnerships, and pivotal moments that shaped Frisco’s rapid rise in the sports world.

“It was essential that this story be told by the very leaders who shaped Frisco’s growth and transformation into Sports City USA over the last 40 years,” says Marla Roe, executive director of Visit Frisco. “We are honored to share their firsthand accounts of how an early vision for Frisco to have amenities such as a minor league baseball team paved the way for recruiting world-class organizations like the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas, and the PGA of America.”

The docuseries includes interviews with key figures in Frisco’s history, including George Purefoy, the city’s first manager, and Mike Simpson, former mayor. Also featured are leaders from major sports organizations now headquartered or competing in Frisco, such as Charlotte Jones of the Dallas Cowboys, Dan Hunt of FC Dallas, and Derek Sprague, CEO of the PGA of America.

Other participants include representatives from Kurt Thomas Gymnastics, the Frisco RoughRiders, and local athletes like Grace Cronin of Panther Creek High School and Varish Karri, a U13 badminton player for Team USA. Social media sports stars Dude Perfect and retired NFL player Jeff Allen, co-founder of Cookie Society, also appear in the series.

To coincide with the docuseries launch, Visit Frisco has unveiled its new Sports City USA brand, celebrating the city’s sports legacy and its future as a premier destination for athletes, fans, and events.
