DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – P1 AquaX USA will celebrate its 10th anniversary season with its traditional stop in Daytona Beach on Aug. 18-20 for the Daytona Beach SBGT AquaX Grand Prix.
Event activities will take place in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean located in front of the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach.
The destination will be the third stop in the five-venue series that kicked off in Indiana and will also hold competitions on Florida’s Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
Daytona Beach has hosted a P1 AquaX USA event every year dating back to the inaugural event of the series in the United States in 2013.
“Motorsports has a storied history on the ‘World’s Most Famous Beach,’” says Brandon Little, sports business development manager for the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We’re looking forward to witnessing another chapter of racing with P1 AquaX. The competition on the ocean should be fierce and we hope that the racers and all attendees enjoy the many attractions and activities the Daytona Beach area has to offer during their visit.”
“It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago, P1 AquaX USA all began on Daytona Beach,” says Michelle Petro, P1 USA championship manager. “It started with only seven competitors showing up to race a new endurance format, after that year, the series grew tremendously, doubling in numbers in each round. This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary back on the beach where it all started. Daytona has always been a racer favorite as the water is always unpredictable and challenging.”
The format offers two divisions of racing, Enduro and Sprint, with both a pro and amateur class. The main events are on Saturday, Aug. 19 and Sunday, Aug. 20, with 80 competitors expected from the United States and internationally. There’s no cost for spectators to attend the event.
