ROSEVILLE, Calif.— Placer Valley Tourism will become the naming-rights sponsor of the Roseville Soccer Complex, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at elevating Placer Valley as a sports tourism destination and generating millions of dollars for the local economy.
The newly named Placer Valley Soccer Complex—located at 2600 Westbrook Blvd. in West Roseville—will feature ten artificial turf soccer fields that can also be used for flag football, field hockey, lacrosse, rugby, and quadball. The complex will include the latest LED lighting, two plazas, a perimeter walking path, a universally accessible playground, and 950 parking spaces, making it an excellent place for social events.
The Roseville City Council approved the 12-year naming-rights sponsorship agreement with Placer Valley Tourism (PVT) during a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 16. PVT will pay $5 million over the life of the sponsorship.
“With our focus on Sports Tourism, having PVT as the title sponsor of this best-in-class facility is a continuation of a partnership that benefits the region,” says Roseville Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt.
The Placer Valley Soccer Complex is scheduled to be completed in late 2025, and the first sports tournaments and social events will be possible in January 2026.
“It’s another strategy to expand sports tourism for Placer Valley Tourism and the community,” said Kim Summers, CEO of Placer Valley Tourism. “The soccer complex checks another big box.”
The Placer Valley Soccer Complex—through the marketing efforts of the City of Roseville and Placer Valley Tourism—will attract large sports tournaments and more than 600,000 athletes and fans every year, generating at least $15 million for the local economy from hotel rooms to meals at restaurants.
“This long field project is something we have been looking forward to for many years, and we are thrilled to announce our sponsorship,” said Vanessa Phillips, chair of the Placer Valley Tourism Board. The company manages five hotels in Roseville. “This will add yet another dynamic sports venue to our region, attracting a variety of sporting events and generating a significant economic boost to lodging, restaurants, retail, and entertainment for the local community.”
The Placer Valley Soccer Complex will join a deep lineup of sports venues—and sports tourism marketing opportunities—in the region. Local groups, including Placer United and the Roseville Soccer Club, will also use the Placer Valley Soccer Complex, one of the largest in Northern California. The organizations will lease some of the fields throughout the year.
“Up until now, our training model has been spread across various fields throughout Placer County,” said Kevin Unsworth, director of boys coaching for Placer United. The organization also has a 27,000-square-foot indoor facility in Rocklin. “With the opening of the Placer Valley Soccer Complex, we’ll be able to bring nearly 1,000 athletes through this facility each week, fostering a stronger sense of club culture and unity.”
Placer United will also host major tournaments, including those that attract college coaches and recruiters looking for players, at the $61 million soccer complex. Placer United has about 35 athletes who advance to the college level every year.
“With the opening of the new Placer Valley Soccer Complex, we are excited to host premier-level competitions that will attract top teams from across the region,” says Jeanne Mabry, tournament director for Placer United. “This facility allows us to bring high-caliber events to the area, driving increased foot traffic to local businesses and contributing to the economic growth of Placer County. It’s a win-win for our club, the community, and the local economy.”
