OWENSBORO, Ky. – Plans for a new sports complex in Owensboro, Ky., have been released to the public.
As reported by The Owensboro Times, the complex will span roughly 86,000 square feet with seven basketball courts. According to the assistant city manager Lelan Hancock, those seven basketball courts could be converted into 14 volleyball courts or 21 to 28 pickleball courts.
As the article states, Hancock says the complex could include 100 archery targets, welcome cheer and dance competitions, and install a modular indoor soccer field. Other features will include a 10,000-square-foot mezzanine for fans.
“It’s a multi-use facility. Everyone will be able to utilize the building in one way, shape, form, or fashion. I can’t say that it’s perfect [for any one group]. Otherwise, you’d just design it for [that sport], but when you do that you eliminate the rest. I believe every one of them gets a win in this facility,” Hancock told the newspaper.
According to the article, the complex will be completed in late 2025.
