PRIMA COUNTY, Ariz.  – Plans for a multibillion-dollar sports complex in Tuscon, Ariz., have been given local approval.

As reported by television station KOLD, the complex, named Mosaic Quarter, will be a large addition to the Kino Sports Complex, which opened in 1998.

Once fully completed, the property will include a three-rink sports “iceplex,” with a 3,000-seat arena; a multi-use field house; up to four restaurants; a stadium; an entertainment pavilion; an event plaza; splash pads; three hotels; and a parking structure.

During the 2025-2026 season, the “iceplex” will host three nationally marketed tournaments. For each season thereafter, it will host eight tournaments.

According to KOLD’s article, Frank Knott, owner of Knott Development, the lead on the project, says it will “transform the local, regional, and national profile of Prima County.”

Local officials estimate the new complex will create $8.3 billion in new local spending; $917.7 million in tax revenue for the city, region, and state; create 46,000 new jobs; and support 92,300 jobs overall, representing $3.7 billion in earnings.
