Massive racquet sports complex to receive $10 million in funding from City of Raleigh, N.C.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Construction on what will be one of the largest racquet sports complexes in the United States will begin this summer.

As reported by Axios.com, the City of Raleigh recently pledged $10 million in funding towards the complex, which is being developed by Swing Racquet + Paddle. The company is investing $125 million into the complex which is expected to attract one million visitors a year.

Rob Autry, one of the founders of Swing Racquet + Paddle, recently told Raleigh city council that the complex will include: 28 tennis courts, 25 pickleball courts; 16 padel courts; beach tennis and volleyball courts; a ping-pong longue; restaurants, bars, and retail shops; and a nature trail.

In another article by local television station CBS-17, company officials said they expect the complex to create 300 new jobs and have an economic impact of $360 million over the first five years. The idea of the complex was first developed in 2018, with the original plan to open in 2024.
