LANSING, Mich.—Approximately 3,000 student athletes from 460 high schools across the country will gather at the Michigan Trapshooting Association facility in Mason from July 9 to 13 for the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship, led by The Lansing Sports Commission.
The USA Clay Target League is the nation’s largest school-approved shooting sports program, with over 53,000 student athletes participating in the 2024–25 school year. It emphasizes safety, enjoyment, and marksmanship.
“The League’s National Championship is the premier event that tens of thousands of high school athletes aspire to,” says John Nelson, president of the USA Clay Target League. “It’s an amazing experience for the athletes, the teams, and the spectators that attend the three-day event.”
The championship marks the end of a competitive season with over 38,000 athletes nationwide. Teams and individuals will compete in qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday, leading up to the final championship rounds on Sunday, July 13.
“We’re proud to support events like this that not only bring top-tier athletes to our region but also create lasting economic benefits for our local communities,” says Meghan Ziehmer, executive director of the Lansing Sports Commission. “The USA Clay Target League is an incredible partner, and we’re honored to help provide a world-class experience for these student athletes and their families.”
