Wisconsin Esports Summit returning to Milwaukee this week

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – More than 200 leaders from across education, business, tourism, traditional sports, esports, and a variety of other industries will return to Milwaukee for the second annual Wisconsin Esports Summit.

Facilitated by the MKEsports Alliance and presented by Spectrum Industries, the event takes place on Monday, March 6 in partnership with the Wisconsin Center District at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

“Esports globally has reached the highest peaks of success in revenue, viewership and overall interest. We’re excited to see it expanding with similar velocity here in Wisconsin–necessitating an event like the upcoming Summit,” says MKEsports Alliance’s Brandon Tschacher. “Many esports organizations and team valuations now surpass those in traditional sports like the NHL, MLS, and other international leagues. Investments, sponsorships, and media rights are now multibillion-dollar revenue streams for this growing industry.”

MKEsports Alliance is hosting the Wisconsin Esports Summit to bring individuals and organizations across all spectrums together, to network, learn and help accelerate the state’s ability to capture the opportunities provided by the growing esports industry. A highlight of this year’s event includes a professionally streamed Wisconsin Collegiate Rocket League match, featuring six Wisconsin University teams playing a friendly on the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena field, simultaneously shown on the 360-degree Jumbotron. In addition to networking and gameplay, guests will also have the opportunity to attend panel discussions and breakout sessions around relevant esports topics.

“Milwaukee is now a top regional destination to host gaming events. From the Midwest Gaming Classic to the Midwinter Gaming Convention, downtown is the place to host esports tournaments of all shapes and sizes. MKEsports Alliance continues to grow the presence of esports in partnership with local businesses, regional groups, and organizations,” says Marissa Werner, director of Sports Milwaukee. “There is no better place to host the Wisconsin Esports Summit than in Milwaukee.”
