MISHAWAKA, Ind.  – The developer of a massive high school athletics facility planned for an Indiana town says the facility could generate $65 million in general revenue.

As reported by Front Office Sports, construction on the 230,000-square-foot Mishawaka Fieldhouse is scheduled to start this month, with plans to open in 2024.

It is expected the city will attract athletes and their families from the U.S. for volleyball, football, basketball, and soccer tournament, among others.

The Fieldhouse will be constructed and run by sports-focused real estate developer Card & Associates, according to the article.

According to a November 2022 article from local radio station WVPE, the Fieldhouse’s first phase includes 10 indoor basketball courts, 19 volleyball courts, pitching and hitting tunnels, leasable office space, and two football fields worth of indoor turf space that can be converted into a convention area. A second phase could add an ice rink and four baseball fields.

At the time when the local city council approved the project, Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood said the facility would bring more youth tournaments to the area.

“We think we are ideally situated to see success here—we’re in the hole of the donut, as I like to say,” Wood told WVPE. “There are these kinds of projects in Indianapolis, Chicago, Fort Wayne, [Ind.] Grand Rapids [Mi.]. Other than that, we are sitting right smack dab with full potential to succeed because a project like this will be going here with no real competition around it.”
