REDDING, Calif.—The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) will host a new tournament in Redding, California, from March 20-22, 2026, marking the debut of a Preview Series event in the area.
The three-day tournament, the AJGA Preview presented by Choose Redding Lodging, will take place at The Golf Club Tierra Oaks and feature 78 boys and girls ages 12-19. The competition is open to the public and free.
Held in partnership with Choose Redding Lodging, the event will be contested in an 18-hole stroke play format and is designed specifically for first-time AJGA participants.
“We’re proud to welcome the AJGA Preview Series to Redding and to support young athletes at an important stage in their development,” says Jennifer Johnston, CEO of Choose Redding Lodging. “Hosting this event at Tierra Oaks showcases not only the quality of our golf facilities, but also our community’s commitment to youth sports and athlete development. We’re excited to introduce first-time AJGA competitors to Redding and to the experience our destination offers.”
The Preview Series is intended for AJGA members who have not yet competed in an AJGA tournament, offering players an opportunity to begin earning Performance-Based Entry (PBE) status. PBE is used to gain entry into higher-level AJGA competitions, including summer Open tournaments and the AJGA Junior All-Star Series.
The AJGA is widely regarded as a leading development pathway for junior golfers. Alumni include Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and Dustin Johnson, among others, who have advanced to collegiate, professional, and PGA Tour competition.
Events like the Preview Series are key to introducing young athletes to tournament play while helping them build a foundation for long-term success in the sport.
