Pinnacle Bank Arena anchors Lincoln’s West Haymarket Redevelopment Project, a $180 million arena that has played host to world-class sporting events, concerts, performances and more since opening in Fall 2013. With over 470,400 square feet of space throughout the arena, this state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility offers year-round entertainment options and hosting space for events looking to make a splash with their attendees.
A current seating capacity of 16,000 is set to be expanded in the near future, as Pinnacle Bank Arena is always in the conversation to host marquee basketball, volleyball and wrestling events. Pinnacle Bank Arena is also home to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, who routinely find themselves toward the top of attendance numbers amongst the bluebloods of college basketball.
Since opening in 2002, Hawks Field at Haymarket Park has been one of college baseball’s best ballparks. Set on 32 acres one-half mile west of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus near downtown Lincoln and home to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and semi-professional Lincoln Saltdogs, the complex features a championship field with a seating capacity of up to 8,500. Next door, Bowlin Stadium is one of the premier softball facilities in the country, with a championship field that is also one of the best of the country and a seating capacity of up to 3,275.
Located on the eastern edge of UNL’s City Campus is the Bob Devaney Sports Center and Devaney Center Natatorium, which first opened in 1976. In the 50 years of operation, the sports center has served as the site of many of the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ biggest athletic events, hosted USA Wrestling World Team Trials events, USA Volleyball matches and other events at the multi-purpose complex. With a $20 million upgrade completed in 2013, the Devaney Center has amenities that make it one of the premier Olympic sport venues in the country.
The former home for Nebraska’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, the Bob Devaney Sports Center now hosts Nebraska women’s volleyball, in addition to gymnastics, wrestling, swimming and track and field, holding a seating capacity of up to 8,500 and over 16,500 square feet of competition space. The indoor track and natatorium are a part of the complex, hosting amateur and collegiate events in addition to Nebraska high school state tournament competitions.
The new Sid and Hazel Dillion Tennis Center on Nebraska’s Innovation Campus features six indoor courts and a total of 1,400 permanent seats in the indoor and outdoor tennis areas. The facility has recently played host to ATP Challenger events as part of the USTA Pro Circuit, with growing attendance each year since beginning in 2024. The tennis center was part of a $20 million upgrade for the Nebraska Soccer and Tennis Complex, which also includes the Barbara Hibner Soccer Stadium, which can seat 2,500 soccer fans.
Youth sports continue to grow and the grand opening of the Sandhills Global Youth Complex in April 2025 means that athletes and their families from across the region will continue to visit Lincoln for years to come for tournaments and a great time in the community. It is the first baseball and softball complex of its kind in the state of Nebraska, hosting not only games and tournaments but also instructional clinics and camps for youth from Lincoln, the surrounding region and beyond.
Housing eight fully turfed fields and set in the shadow of downtown Lincoln and the Historic Haymarket District, the Sandhills Global Youth Complex boasts two championships fields, one for baseball and one for softball, plus five youth fields that can be used for baseball and softball. In its opening six months of operation in 2025, the complex played host to over 2,600 games and attracted teams from all over the United States to play tournaments and more, with 2026 hosting even more games and tournaments.
When it’s not hosting youth tournaments that bring in visitors from around the country and surrounding areas, the Sandhills Global Youth Complex also houses Lincoln’s Nebraska Wesleyan University baseball and softball programs, providing a new home for the Prairie Wolves at the collegiate level. The all-turfed fields are available year-round with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s baseball and softball teams also using them throughout the fall and winter months before their seasons begin in the spring.
The complex is a space for players of all backgrounds and abilities to come together and play, expanding opportunities that will have a positive impact on youth throughout the region. Other baseball and softball venues in Lincoln include Den Hartog Fields, Densmore Park, Lewis Ballfield Complex, Optimist Youth Sports Complex and more, with multiple fields for play and practice and located across all corners of the Lincoln community. With the addition of the Sandhills Global Youth Complex and upgrades to existing facilities, baseball and softball continue to have a strong presence in Lincoln, a town that has a rich history of supporting both sports.
Youth sports events continue to focus on multi-use facilities in Lincoln, with Speedway Sports Complex, Lincoln Sports Foundation and Kinetic Sports Complex currently playing host to national-caliber tournaments in sparkling and expanding facilities, featuring basketball, volleyball, soccer and more.
Located less than three miles from downtown Lincoln, Speedway Sports Complex features an indoor facility boasting eight basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts and is easily configured for pickleball and other activities. The facility also boasts a large, turfed fieldhouse which can host indoor soccer, flag football and more and has played host to the USA Roller Sports National Championships multiple times, most recently in July 2026. Outdoor soccer and multi-purpose fields also dot the landscape of the exterior grounds, ideal for tournaments and regular play and practice.
Massive renovations and upgrades have been the story at the Lincoln Sports Foundation campus, with national events taking notice. In July 2026, LSF played host to USA Archery’s JOAD Target Nationals and JOAD U.S. Open, bringing hundreds of competitors to their northeast Lincoln facility as Lincoln played host to the event for the first time. The 200+ acre property hosts everything from basketball to soccer to motocross and more, with events held year-round.
In addition to an indoor-turfed field with 60-foot ceiling, ten volleyball courts and six regulation indoor courts are available for play with accommodations for 200-250 spectators. Indoor and outdoor renovations have helped transform the facility and grounds over the past few years with new events bringing their competitions to LSF and more expansions to the facility on the horizon.
Kinetic Sports Complex opened its doors in early 2020 and features over 93,000 square feet of indoor court space. Eight basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts and nine pickleball courts host everything from summer camps to tournaments and even non-sports events. The Kinetic Sports Complex also boasts a 5,000 square foot athletic training center and has played host to major club basketball events and national tournaments, including the NXT Pro Hoops National Championship. The $11 million facility sits just west of Lincoln’s bustling downtown area, with easy access to nearby Interstate 80.
It’s not all fields and courts when it comes to sporting activities in Lincoln. The John Breslow Ice Hockey Center holds nearly 54,000 square feet of space near Lincoln’s Historic Haymarket and features a single NHL-sized ice sheet for ice related sport clubs and public recreational ice skating, while also hosting Lincoln’s youth hockey and figure skating clubs. Able to host up to 700 spectators, the facility also contains team locker rooms, a training room, coaches’ offices and equipment storage space in addition to meeting/party rooms, concessions and more.
Woods Tennis Center is located in central Lincoln, next to the sprawling Woods Park.
