
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Gary Ewen, CSEE, with the Lee County Sports Development office retired at the end of September.
Ewen was involved in the sports tourism movement since 1984 and a member of the first graduating class of the CSEE program.
A past member of the NASC (Sports ETA) Board of Directors and the US Sports Congress, Ewen’s career began in parks and recreation, the CVB and then the sports development office.
Ewen served Lee County for more than 36 years and during his tenure worked to create the base of the county’s success in sports tourism.
In retirement, Ewen plans to spend some time establishing the two businesses he started. Those are known as Pinnacle Tourism Strategies and Southwest Florida Sports & Entertainment Group.
