Fort Wayne Reports Record-Setting Events

 FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Fort Wayne hosted four regional sporting events Jan. 19-21, bringing in a record-setting 7,000 participants and $1 million to the city. 
 
The largest event was the Gym Rats MLK Classic held at Spiece Fieldhouse. An estimated 3,500 basketball players from across the Midwest were expected to compete in the two-day event.
 
The Fort Wayne MLK Challenge, a new event, was held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and SportOne Parkview Fieldhouse. The event was expected to bring in 2,500 players from five states.
 
The FWA Winter Classic Invitational, held at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium, was expected to bring in 200 swimmers.
 
The 11v11 Indoor Challenge Tournament, held at the Plex South, was expected to draw an estimated 1,000 soccer players from nearby states.
