MESA, Ariz. — Visit Mesa, Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities and the City of Mesa will host the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 Women’s Tennis National Championship next May.
“All of us here at Visit Mesa is thrilled to help bring the 2021 NJCAA Division I Women’s National Championship to the City of Mesa,” said Visit Mesa Director of Sports Sales Suzanne Cecil. “The competition takes place during our favorite time of the year with near-perfect weather allowing for new experiences across our city when the student-athletes finish their match. Families and fans will be welcomed to an outdoor playground perfect for mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and more, all minutes from the tennis courts.”
Thirty-two junior college athletic teams will compete May 1–5 2021 at the Mesa Tennis Center and the event is expected to generate nearly $1 million in estimated economic impact. Two signature hotels will host athletes and fans – the Hyatt Place Phoenix/Mesa and Holiday Inn & Suites Phoenix-Mesa/Chandler.
The Mesa Tennis Center has hosted the Arizona High School State Tennis Championships and various United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments in addition to the Western Athletic Conference (NCAA DI) Tennis Championships in 2018.
The NJCAA announced dates and locations for upcoming events at the NJCAA Convention in a virtual format in April where 25 events were announced.
