HAMILTON, Ohio – The largest sports complex in the U.S. has been an overwhelming success so far.
As reported by Springfield Sun-News, the first tournament at Spooky Nook Sports on Feb. 11 attracted approximately 15,000 people.
The newspaper reported a volleyball tournament at the sports event venue, part of the 1.2-million-square-foot Champion Mill mega-plex, which saw cars overflowing out of the parking lots.
The article states a basketball tournament scheduled over this past weekend would bring 4,000 attendees, and another planned for early March is expected to draw 22,400.
Local officials and parking attendants were on hand during the first event, gaining insight into how they may need to adjust parking to be able to accommodate the flow of traffic.
Spooky Nook Sports opened in late-2022. The $165 million project is the nation’s largest sports complex, featuring 19 meeting rooms, 28 basketball courts, 46 volleyball courts, a 65,000-square-foot fitness center, and a 233-room hotel.
Last month, the facility spokesperson Bonnie Bastien told the Sun-News “there is still more work to do.”
“As we invite more people into our complex for competitions, rec leagues, our fitness center, practices, and events, we know they will be amazed at the magnitude of our facility and all that we bring to the area,” she said. “We look forward to being the place where people gather together for fun and entertainment and to be able to introduce visitors to all that the Hamilton community has to offer.”
