BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Nick Sellers, a veteran Alabama executive, will take over as The World Games’ 2021 chief executive officer ahead of the event, being held in Birmingham.
Sellers, mostly recently vice president of the Mobile division at Alabama Power, will take over from DJ Mackovets, who recently resigned.
A native of Birmingham and graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., Sellers is chairman of the Alabama Sports Council, responsible for sponsorships, ticketing and operations for events such as the SEC Baseball Tournament and the Champions Tour’s Regions Charity Classic.
“I’ve always believed in Birmingham and have confidence that we will come together in a way in which we’ve never done before,” said Sellers.
The 11th edition of the World Games will be held July 15–25, 2021, with more than 3,600 athletes in over 30 sports from 100 countries.
