Newsom Named Athletic Director of City of Cullman Parks and Recreation

CULLMAN, Ala. – Jesse Newsom, CSEE, is joining Cullman Parks
and Recreation as athletic director. Newsom was the tourism director for the
Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center.

“We wish
Jesse the best,” Chamber President and CEO Leah Bolin told the Cullman Tribune.
“This only strengthens our partnership with Cullman Parks and Recreation as
both parties strive to make the Cullman area a prime tourism destination, as
well as the ideal community to live, work and play.”

Newsom will
be responsible for bringing more sports-focused tourism to the Cullman area.

Newsom previously served as the sports marketing director and the executive director
of the Jacksonville Onslow Sport Commission.

Newsom has
served on several boards and committees with the National Association of Sports
Commissions (NASC) and Sports North Carolina, in addition to Sports Alabama and
is well-known in the sports events industry.

Newsom and
his wife Natalie have two children, Jackson and Jenna Kate.

Roger Steele, a Cullman native and sales and marketing professional will serve as the interim tourism director.
