A large Multi-Use Indoor Sports Complex is planned for St. Charles, MD and will offer year-round indoor facility options for training and tournaments at the local, national and international levels, according to SMNewsnet.com.
“This indoor complex is what we have been waiting for,” Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) POC for the Southern Maryland region, Kevin Dade, said, “opportunities to host AAU basketball tournaments which will result in teams in the area and surrounding areas to get exposure on the higher-level platform”.
The complex will be suitable for practicing and hosting multiple sporting and recreational tournaments including indoor soccer, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, martial arts, volleyball, swimming, and track & field.
It will include a modern food court and social area with multiple food cuisine and retail options.
“I am excited for what this indoor sports complex will bring the young athletes and community at large,” Dr. William Drakeford, CEO of the SMISC and a pillar in the Southern Maryland community said.
The facility is expected to be open in mid 2017.
