USA Softball Adds Michigan Dates to Stand Beside Her Tour

Oklahoma City, Okla. — USA Softball’s women’s national team has announced new stops for its Stand Beside Her Tour, as it prepares for the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo.

With the return of softball to the Games, the Stand Beside Her Tour provides the training players need, while giving fans a chance to watch the WNT team in action.

The “Stand Beside Her” message is meant to encourage fans to support the WNT’s trek to the Olympics, as well as future generations of female athletes.

The tour will include 30 cities overall, with several already announced, including new additions in Michigan. It will be a full schedule of games and exhibitions for Team USA before it heads to the first Olympics to include softball since 2008.

Hosted by USA Softball of Michigan, the national team will play a doubleheader against the Great Lake Loons at Dow Diamond in Midland on June 9, before another doubleheader against the same team on June 10 at Secchia Stadium, on the campus of Michigan State University. “I am beyond excited that Team USA will be playing in Michigan,” said USA Softball catcher Amanda Chidester, who hails from Allen Park, MI.

“I have had the pleasure of working with so many young aspiring softball players in the state of Michigan and I would encourage them all to come out and see what dreaming big truly can get you.”

One of the nation’s largest sports organizations, USA Softball is the governing body for the sport in the US, and a member of the United States Olympic Committee. USA Softball annually conducts thousands of tournaments throughout the country, including more than 100 National Championships.
