COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Weightlifting will host a major gala next April at New York City’s iconic Grand Central Station to celebrate American athletes ahead of next year’s Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The Tokyo Strong Golden Gala will feature Olympians past and present and help raise money for the athletes representing the stars and stripes at next year’s Olympic Games. The event takes place one day before celebrations across New York City to mark 100 days until the Opening Ceremony in Tokyo.
Emceed by a very special guest on April 14, the Golden Gala will give attendees an opportunity to meet current and former members of Team USA in an intimate setting. To build excitement for next year’s Games, attendees will get a taste of Tokyo culture, with entertainment that reflects Japan’s Olympic City.
Set in Vanderbilt Hall, the Golden Gala includes a hosted bar, a three-course dinner and once-in-a-lifetime experiences with Olympic champions and the nation’s strongest athletes. Four-time Olympic medalist and three-time Olympic Champion Pyrros Dimas will share his Olympic experience, and his observations on a historic first four years with USA Weightlifting.
Beyond dining with the stars of the sport, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive and carefully curated items in a silent auction and raffle, benefiting USA Weightlifting athletes. For ticket information, visit GoldenGala2020.com.
