The Newest Multiuse Facilities

Now that most of the country is in its warmer months, new sports facilities are opening their doors for amateur sports games, tournaments, and events. Whether it’s a basketball tournament, a youth soccer league, a fitness expo, or an esports showdown, today’s venues are built to host it all. These multiuse facilities are thoughtfully designed with indoor/outdoor flexibility, inclusivity, and fan experience in mind. We explore some of the most exciting new and upcoming multiuse sports facilities, and what they mean for event planners looking to elevate their game.

SCHEELS Sports Park at Legacy Pointe

Springfield, Ill.

Opening: Fall 2025

SCHEELS Sports Park broke ground in the summer of 2023. Since then, the $60+ million facility has produced eight outdoor multipurpose turf fields for baseball, softball, soccer, football, lacrosse, and rugby. Recently, they celebrated the inflation of the Springfield Clinic Dome, the largest air-supported sports dome in the world. Once completed, the 196,625-square-foot indoor Springfield Clinic Dome can be configured at different times for basketball courts, volleyball courts, softball fields, a soccer field, performance, and turf training areas. At 715 feet long and 275 feet wide, the dome is more than two football fields long and 96 feet high at its peak. It will hold six full-size basketball courts that can be converted into 12 regulation volleyball courts, and it can also be configured for soccer and turf training areas.

Western Sports Park

Farmington, Utah

Opening: Summer 2025

Western Sports Park, formerly known as the Legacy Event Center, is a 55-acre sports campus. Approximately 17 of those acres are maintained field grounds, and include six full-sized soccer fields, including a championship field with more than 2,000 fixed seats. Additionally, the campus has over 120,000 square feet of playable multiuse indoor space, including two indoor arenas with stadium seating.

Circle K Fieldhouse

Columbus, Ind.

Opening: Summer 2025

Circle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark is a 150,000-square-foot sports facility located in central Columbus, Ind. As an integral part of the NexusPark campus, this fieldhouse serves as a versatile sports and event venue, ready to welcome a variety of sporting and non-sporting events. It can host 12 temporary volleyball courts, 16 high school basketball courts, 40 pickleball courts, 30 high school wrestling mats, and more. For parents with small children coming to watch a game, NexusPark will soon provide a Child Watch center, available for parents to leave children for up to two hours.

Oasis Sports Complex

Marion, Ill.

Opening: Summer 2025

The $30 million Oasis Sports Complex houses an inward modular design that makes it easy for the field to transform from four baseball or softball fields into two full-size soccer fields in mere minutes. This flexibility allows multiple tournaments featuring different sports to run at the same time. The facility’s dome venue is also set to open in January 2026. To make planning easy, the sports facility also conveniently connects to nearby attractions such as Oasis Outdoors, the Oasis Fieldhouse (which features multiple games like Pure Putt, pickleball, and basketball-adjacent Arc Rivals in an arcade-like setting), retail shops, restaurants, and a hotel, which is set to open late 2026. The entertainment areas create an easy transition for postgame celebrations, and easy dining and lodging access for traveling teams.

AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk

Located in Overland Park, Kan., AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk is a 420,000-square-foot indoor sports and entertainment complex in the heart of the Bluhawk District. The complex serves as a premier destination for amateur and youth sports, tournaments, and family-friendly events. It offers flexible spaces that can accommodate a variety of amateur and youth sports, tournaments, and family-friendly events and
a 3,200-seat arena.

The Bluhawk District also offers shopping, dining, and entertainment options, making it easy for planners to
organize activities and dining. In the future, AdventHealth Sports Park will include a second ice rink, mini golf, and an additional bar and grill.
