OGDEN, Utah—
Utah’s Snowbasin Resort will host a new stop on the UTMB World Series trail running circuit beginning this year, bringing an internationally recognized endurance event to the Wasatch Mountains near Ogden.

Organizers announced that Snowbasin by UTMB will debut Sept. 10–12, 2026, as a one-time date before moving to Sept. 16–18 in subsequent years. The event will feature 58-kilometer and 28-kilometer trail races and will be part of the global UTMB World Series, one of the sport’s most prestigious ultra-trail running circuits.

Snowbasin Resort, one of the oldest ski areas in the United States, has a long history of hosting major sporting events, including competitions during the 2002 Winter Olympics. The resort is also scheduled to host the 2034 Winter Games.

The addition of Snowbasin marks a milestone for both the resort and the UTMB World Series, pairing the international trail running brand with one of Utah’s most prominent mountain destinations.

“We are deeply honored to be welcomed by the Snowbasin Resort community and to carry on the traditions and heritage of this exceptional place,” says Florian Lamblin, UTMB international executive director. “With its Olympic legacy, world-class trails, and stunning alpine landscapes, Snowbasin embodies the values of our circuit and offers runners a truly premium and unforgettable experience.

We are proud to showcase one of Utah’s most iconic resorts on the global stage and can’t wait to welcome athletes to discover its outstanding trails.”

The event is designed to highlight northern Utah’s outdoor culture and scenery. Located just outside Ogden, Snowbasin is known for alpine lakes, extensive trail systems, and sweeping views of the Great Salt Lake.

“As an ultra-runner and race director, I’m excited to partner with the UTMB World Series to bring Snowbasin by UTMB to the Ogden Community,” says Alex Docta, Snowbasin by UTMB race director. “We have so much beauty here in northern Utah to showcase to the world. Snowbasin Resort will provide our participants with stunning trails and world-class hospitality.”

Docta added that runners will experience a variety of terrain, from forests and meadows to panoramic lake and mountain views, while emphasizing safety and course quality.

The 58-kilometer race will feature approximately 5,800 feet of elevation gain, while the 28-kilometer course will include more than 2,400 feet of climbing, traversing Snowbasin’s singletrack trails and circling the resort.

Organizers also announced the launch of a Cares Bibs initiative, with proceeds directed toward community grants supporting projects and organizations in the greater Ogden area.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome the Snowbasin by UTMB to Ogden and to see Snowbasin officially join the UTMB World Series,” says Sara Toliver, president and CEO of Visit Ogden. “This race showcases everything that makes our community special from Snowbasin’s world-class trail system, our incredible fall weather and colors, our local vibrant food scene, entertainment, and outdoor culture that runners and their families can enjoy throughout race weekend.”
