Located 30-minutes west of Orlando, Lake County is “Real Florida, Real Close” and the perfect sports event destination. 

Real Venues:

Watersports: As the name implies, there are plenty of lakes (over 1,000) in Lake County.  Lake Minneola in Clermont is home to the Clermont Boathouse and Clermont Waterfront Park, as well as a 1,000-meter and 2,000-meter course for paddlesports or rowing and the oak-tree covered shoreline provides spectators with a great viewing area.

Lake County is also home to some of the top lakes for freshwater fishing in Florida.  The Harris Chain of Lakes is a nationally recognized fishing destination with world-class facilities to host high-profile tournaments.

The National Training Center (NTC) includes a 37,000 square foot fitness facility, five athletic fields, a 400-meter outdoor track and field complex, and an outdoor heated pool.  The newly renovated, 1-million gallon pool at the NTC is the 2nd largest competition pool in Florida and was constructed by Myrtha, the same company that built the London and Rio Olympic pools!  The NTC is also home to Legends Way Ballfields, a 5-field fastpitch softball complex with a stadium field.

Victory Pointe is a world-class venue designed for multi-sport athletes, event organizers and visitors.  For over 34 years, the city of Clermont has been a global destination for multi-sport training and competitive events including numerous regional and national championships.  This new venue will further solidify the area as the “World Triathlon Destination.”

Mission Inn Resort & Club –
Howey-in-the-Hills, FL

Mission Inn Resort & Club is a 1,100 acre, full-service luxury resort.  It is home to two championship 18-hole golf courses, including the 100-year old “El Campeon” course, which has been rated the #1 course in Florida and #16 internationally by Golf Advisor. 

The Big House –

The Big House is a state-of-the-art 162,000-square-foot recreational facility with 9 basketball courts, 16 volleyball courts and more.  The flexibility of the venue allows it to host a variety of events and its proximity to accommodations lends itself to a great visitor experience.

Hickory Point Park – Tavares, FL

Hickory Point is home to the 6-field Mike Stone Soccer Complex and Hickory Point Beach Sand Volleyball Complex, Florida’s largest permanent sand volleyball complex with 21 lighted sand volleyball courts and a $1.8 Million, 4,000-square-foot Athletics Center.  Hickory Point Beach hosts international, national, collegiate and amateur competitions year-round.

Real Events:

The resume of events hosted in Lake County, FL showcases the range and championship capabilities of the area.  High-profile fishing tournaments hosted on our lakes include the FLW Tour, Bassmaster Eastern Opens as well as the Fishers of Men Team Series National Championship.  Other watersport events hosted include world waterski championships, the USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championship and USA Synchronized Swimming National Championships.

Out of the water, the events hosted include NCAA golf championships, the NAIA Softball World Series and AAU state and regional basketball championships to name a few.

Real Close:

Lake County is “Real Close” to the #1 tourist destination in the world: Orlando, Florida.  When the competition is over, visitors can take a 30-minute drive to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando or any of the world-famous attractions.  Our central location also provides for easy-access to either the Atlantic or gulf coasts to visit some of Florida’s famous beaches.  However, it’s always nice to relax and enjoy some of the “Real Florida” attractions, parks, historic downtowns and activities in Lake County.
