
PORTLAND, Ore.—Sports ETA president and CEO John David named Marissa Werner, director of sports Milwaukee at VISIT Milwaukee, as the 2025 Sports ETA Woman of the Year. The award recognizes exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment within the sports events and tourism industry.
Werner launched Sports Milwaukee, a division of VISIT Milwaukee, and is now leading it to position Milwaukee as a destination for sporting events. Under her leadership, Milwaukee has successfully hosted and secured a number of high-profile events, such as NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, PGA Championships, USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships, and USA Volleyball 18s Girls National Championships among many others. These events generated both economic impact and local pride.
