MINNEAPOLIS – A new turf field facility is set to open in August in Maple Grove in the Minneapolis Northwest Tourism area (Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove), about 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. The $12 million recreation facility is designed for youth soccer, lacrosse or football tournaments and is in a convenient location for sports organizers, according to Minneapolis Northwest Tourism.
Fernbrook Fields has four artificial turf fields and also boasts a park area, child play area and a team warm-up zone.
Brooklyn Park recently announced a $7.7 million project called the District 279 Sports Dome that will offer tournament organizers two synthetic fields and a multi-use dome.
Athletes traveling to the area looking for after-tournament entertainment will find bowling at Bowlero, go-kart racing at ProKart Indoor Racing, arcade games at Dave & Busters and TopGolf, the first location in Minnesota with more than 100 climate-controlled hitting bays.
Dining, hotel options and other attractions are also available.
