Visit Greenville, NC Wins Two 2019 NCTIA Marketing Achievement Awards

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC) received two Destination Marketing Association of North Carolina (DMANC) Achievement Awards at the North Carolina Association (NCTIA) NC Tourism Leadership Conference in Concord, Sept. 10-12.

Paul Sheehan, director of sports development with the newly formed Greenville-Pitt County Sports Commission, a division of Visit Greenville, NC, was honored with the North Carolina Travel & Tourism Industry Association’s 2019 Rising Star Award. Sheehan received the recognition for his immediate impact working with Visit Greenville, NC and in tourism and sports marking in North Carolina.

Sheehan joined Visit Greenville, NC fall 2018 as a sports development intern and assisted with services offered to tournaments being held in Greenville-Pitt County. In 2018, Sheehan was hired as a part-time employee and continued to work in sports services. He was promoted to assistant director of sports development in July 2018.

The CVB also won a Destination Marketing Achievement 2019 Platinum Award for Community Relations for mid-sized Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) for Visit Greenville, NC Advocacy Plan. The advocacy plan is a guide for staff, board members and partners to help advocate for tourism and its role in economic development, as well as tourism-related infrastructure growth in Greenville-Pitt County.
